Ariadne Montenegro is a NYC-based actress and filmmaker dedicated to amplifying the voices of marginalized communities in mainstream media. Raised in New York City, she honed her artistic craft at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School as an art major before completing her studies at The New School for Drama, where she concentrated in acting and minored in screenwriting.
Montenegro's short film The Cat Can Dance was selected for the NYC Semi-Finals at the Official Latino Film Festival in 2019, and went on to screen at Indie Short Fest and Indie X Short Fest. It was also named a semi-finalist at The New York Latino Film Festival in 2020.
In 2021, Montenegro was awarded a City Artist Corps grant to produce her short horror film Just Sister Things. The film, which features Yuliana Sleme, A.K. Ibrahim, and Montenegro herself, premiered on YouTube in October 2021. It went on to screen at the Mott Haven Film Festival’s “Halloween in April” event in 2022, and later made an appearance at New York Comic Con in 2023. In November 2024, Just Sister Things won Best Horror at the International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival and screened at the Regal Essex Crossings Cinema in NYC.
Montenegro’s on-screen credits include a role as a tea party attendee in Bailey Bryan’s music video Pressure, as well as playing Blanca in Veronica Lupo’s Tell ‘Em. Most recently, she starred as the lead character, Pepper, in Audrey E. Lorber’s Fever Dreamer.
